In this episode of The Xanadu Review, I’m joined by Alexandru Constantin. We discuss the killing of the United Healthcare CEO, the vibe shift, what it means to be left/right in the modern day, what its like to move to America, the evolution of Star Trek and how it speaks to the post-war American experience, art for its own sake vs art created to make a statement, the danger of trading blue haired scolds for red hatted scolds and ponder why Alexandru’s dog hates me so much.
Finally got around to listening to this one, thanks for the shout out! Lots to comment on. But in particular regarding Disney and other entertainment conglomerates: I read recently a piece on Fandom Pulse about a Disney whistleblower who said that the Wokeists there think they're going to outlast the critics and that sooner or later the public will give in and watch their crap. They're willing to endure failure after failure to wait us out. They seem to have no idea, as you guys pointed out, that we're making our own media now.
Glad you liked it! We will be doing more collaborations in the new year so look out for that

Still, you wonder how many flops a company can stomach.
I don't know either. I reposted the article last week with comment. Replies were intelligent. Seems to be some shareholders are trying but most are just buy-and-hold and figure the company will turn around sooner or later https://substack.com/@chestertonfence/note/c-80651593?r=1nvizm&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=notes-share-action
Jfc your guys’ ability to tie pop culture and entertainment media to politics and social issues and constructs is fucking mindblowing.
Thanks much Laggy! I usually have an outline but it helps when you have a good conversational partner
1000% it’s the person across from you. You guys are just spring-boarding off each other into the abyss, in a very organic way.
I have a couple friends like this. They really get the best out of me to be quite honest.
Again though, your guys’ knowledge base in pretty vast, to be able to talk on all these points.
Neat podcast guys. Interesting to hear you both in the same place.
