We discuss our current political and cultural moment, the concept of generations, the “vibe shift” and what Mr Diggs calls “the big gap”, the nature of reactionary movements, the rise of AI, censorship and bias, the nature of ideological bias and competing worldviews reflected in tech, changing and evolving culture and if America is still capable of producing another Bob Dylan in the age of Tik Tok.
Perhaps this is my pessimism showing, but I think Chalamet's larping as Dylan is more likely to lead to him releasing music than for the youths wondering where their Dylan is. I mean, plenty of them think TS is equivalent to Joni Mitchell.
I do think there is a rich underbelly of culture and art out there, but the distribution models adjust things according to their needs.
